Gurgaon: A crackdown on unauthorised constructions and commercial use of residential properties began on Tuesday in Sushant Lok 1 and South City 1, with enforcement teams sealing and demolishing illegal structures at more than a dozen houses.The action was carried out by the district town planner (enforcement) as part of efforts to curb violations in licensed colonies and ensure compliance with approved building plans and land-use norms. While the department had earlier focused largely on DLF 3, the drive has now been extended to Sushant Lok 1 and South City 1 following survey findings.The action was led by DTPE Amit Madholia and targeted illegal structures in Block A of Sushant Lok 1 and Block B of South City 1. Madholia said around 90% of the survey of licensed colonies in the city has been completed. It has identified illegal construction and residential properties used for commercial activities. Show-cause notices will be issued and restoration orders will be passed in the identified cases.The drive has also gained momentum after Punjab and Haryana high court ruling clarifying the jurisdiction over enforcement in licensed colonies, along with Supreme Court directions for strict action against unauthorised construction and misuse.At house number 603B in Sushant Lok 1, officials found a boutique operating from the basement, an office and kitchen constructed in the open stilt parking area, a treatment centre on the first floor and studio rooms being used commercially on the second, third and fourth floors. Five rooms were also found on the fifth floor. The department has sealed 23 rooms in the building.At houses 602, 594, 595 and 561B, four rooms and toilets constructed in the stilt parking areas were demolished. An office at 561B was also removed. At house 563C, three rooms and toilets built in the stilt parking area were demolished.In South City 1, house B-92, where office-related activities were being conducted across the basement and floors, was sealed. At B-100A, a property dealer’s office operating from the ground floor and basement was also closed. Commercial activities across all four floors, the basement and terrace of B-103 led to the property being sealed. Action was also taken at B-106 for commercial use of all floors.
