Alwar: A major fire broke out around 5pm Tuesday at Crown Rubber Plant in Bhiwadi’s industrial area, with preliminary reports suggesting a short circuit as the cause. The blaze spread rapidly, engulfing more than half of the facility.Finished rubber goods stored inside were reduced to ashes, raising fears of heavy financial losses. Officials said the highly inflammable nature of rubber fuelled the fire’s quick spread.Five fire tenders from the RIICO fire station rushed to the spot and launched firefighting operations. Nagar Parishad fire incharge Naresh Meena and RIICO fire incharge Raju Khan remained present at the scene and monitored the situation.“Fire engines were dispatched immediately. The blaze spread quickly due to rubber and may take time to douse completely,” Meena said, adding that additional tenders had been called in.Bhiwadi Police reached the scene and controlled the crowd. A chemical factory located next to the plant was being closely monitored amid concerns the fire could spread to it, officials said. No casualties were reported. The plant has a PNG gas supply, which was shut down as a precaution. Haryana City Gas deputy manager Rohit was also present at the spot.
