Times News NetworkVasco: The chairperson of Mormugao municipal council (MMC) Girish Borkarhave made a clarion call to the legislators of Mormugao, Vasco and Dabolimconstituencies and also for 25 councillors to stand united to fight againstthe air pollution and foul smell emanating from coal handling process atMormugao Port Authority (MPA).Speaking on the sidelines of agitation and protest by the residents ofHeadland-Sada over the alleged air pollution and emanating foul smell fromcoal, Borkar requested Panchayats Minister Mauvin Godinho, Mormugao MLASankalpAmonkar, Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar, and 25 councillors of MMC tostand united to fight against coal dust pollution and handling of coal inimproper manner by the coal handling companies at MPA.“I am also suffering from respiratory disease since my early childhood.There are several people residing in twin constituencies of Vasco andMormugao who are facing severe and irreversible respiratory diseases thathas affected the lungs and chest, leading to cause pneumoconiosis andfibrosis. It not just a movement, but people should come out in a large tosupport the agitation against wild spread of coal dust pollution which hasmade the humans miserable and to breath clean air”, stated Borkar.
