Gorakhpur: Teachers’ Day celebrations at The Pillars Public School, Civil Lines, and The Pillars Siktaur took an innovative turn this year, with members of its student council taking charge of the schools for a day.Students stepped into the roles of teachers and school officials and handled various academic, administrative and organisational responsibilities. The initiative gave them first-hand experience of leadership, decision-making, accountability and the challenges involved in running an institution.On the Civil Lines campus, students presented cultural programmes and activities to express their gratitude to teachers. The Siktaur campus also witnessed enthusiastic participation, with students acknowledging the contribution and guidance of their teachers.Managing director R P Shahi said teachers were not merely to impart knowledge but also to be mentors who helped shape students’ character and future. He praised the student council initiative as an effective exercise in developing leadership and accountability.School mentor Kirti Shahi said entrusting students with real responsibilities helped build confidence, leadership and decision-making skills. Assistant director Ishan Rana described the initiative as one of the most memorable aspects of this year’s celebrations.The celebrations combined gratitude with experiential learning, strengthening the bond between teachers and students while giving youngsters a practical lesson in leadership and responsibility.
