Over 40k likely to take constable exam in June

Lucknow: The UP Police recruitment and promotion board is preparing to conduct the massive constable recruitment examination from June 8, following the successful completion of the home guard recruitment test last week. The upcoming exam will be held for 32,679 constable and equivalent posts, with officials estimating participation of over 40 lakh candidates, making it one of the largest recruitment drives in the state.Post-wise vacancies under this recruitment include 10,469 positions in civil police, 15,131 in PAC/armed police, 1,341 in special security force, 2,282 in women battalions, 71 in mounted police, and 3,385 jail warder posts (including 106 for women). Officials said that certain categories such as PAC, special security force and mounted police are open only to male candidates. The board recently conducted the home guards’ recruitment exam from Apr 25-27 for over 41,000 posts, with around 19.29 lakh candidates appearing across more than 1,000 centres in 74 districts. Authorities said strict surveillance and anti-cheating measures helped ensure a fair and transparent process, effectively curbing solver gangs and organised malpractice.Building on that experience, the board has begun extensive preparations for the June exam, which is being described as its “real test” due to the sheer scale of participation. Enhanced security arrangements, coordination with district administrations, and deployment of advanced monitoring systems are being planned to prevent any irregularities.Officials advised candidates to regularly check the official UPPRPB website for updates regarding examination schedules, admit cards, and subsequent stages such as document verification, physical standard test (PST) and physical efficiency test (PET).
