3 history-sheeters held with pistols in Malerkotla

Malerkotla: Police on Friday arrested three history-sheeters with two country-made .32-bore pistols along with six live cartridges as part of the ongoing crackdown on gangsters, illegal arms and organised crime.SSP Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh said a police team conducting vehicle checks near the Ludhiana bypass received a tip-off that the three accused, who were wanted in an earlier firing case, were hiding near an electricity grid. Acting swiftly, the police raided the spot and apprehended the trio, identified as Syed Sahmun alias Moon, Mohammad Sameer alias Saji and Mohammad Awais alias Bansri Wala, all residents of Malerkotla.The operation was carried out under the supervision of SP (Investigation) Ramandeep Singh Bhullar and DSP (Investigation) Deepwinderpal Singh. The raiding team was led by CIA Staff Mahorana in-charge Inspector Harjinder Singh and ASI Lakhwinder Singh.A case under Sections 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act and Section 112 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been registered at Malerkotla City-2 police station.The accused were produced before a court and subsequently sent to Central Jail, Patiala. Khakh said all three have a criminal history and were previously involved in cases related to illegal weapons and firing incidents.
