Govt tapping phones, keeping surveillance on BRS leaders, says Harish Rao

Hyderabad: Former minister T Harish Rao on Tuesday alleged that some officials, acting on the Congress govt’s instructions, were tapping phones of BRS leaders and used CCTV cameras near their homes to monitor their movements. He claimed that officials hired hackers from Bengaluru by paying them large sums.Speaking to the media at Sangareddy Central Jail after meeting BRS leader M Krishank and others on Tuesday, Harish Rao said the party has evidence that Telangana police officers hacked systems to track BRS leaders. He said the BRS was documenting the actions of officers and warned that the party would order an inquiry after returning to power. He said officials involved would face action and would not escape accountability even after retirement.Harish Rao said retired officers would have to bear their own legal expenses. He also claimed that BRS was recording the actions of police and other officials who, he said, were helping the ruling Congress and targeting opposition leaders for raising public issues. He also accused chief minister A Revanth Reddy of planning a new ultra-modern camp office costing 100 crore. Harish Rao said the CM was focused on making money and living lavishly instead of serving the public, and alleged that he failed to fulfil his election promises.
