Cops seize 74kg of ganja worth 37L | Pune News



Pune: Sangvi police on Sunday recovered collectively 74kg of ganja worth Rs 37 lakh from Patethan village of Daund taluka after the arrest of an accused on April 16 from Sangvi.The police caught the accused, Ganesh Chavan, 30, of Shirur, with 14kg of ganja in the Sangvi area on April 16. During the custodial interrogation, the accused revealed his accomplice’s name and informed police that more ganja was kept at his accomplice’s house at Patethan village in Daund taluka.A Sangvi police team led by senior police inspector Jitendra Koli raided the house at Patethan village and recovered 60kg of ganja hidden in a cowshed. An officer from the Sangvi police said that investigations revealed that Chavan and his accomplice brought the ganja from the other state. “The duo was supplying the ganja in Pune, Pimpri Chinchwad and in rural parts,” the officer said.He said that the search is on for Chavan’s accomplice, who is on the run.
