Chandigarh: Punjab govt on Tuesday transferred 20 police officers, including eight IPS officers, appointing new senior superintendents of police (SSPs) in six districts and posting Gurpreet Singh Bhullar as border range inspector general (IG).Bhullar had been awaiting posting since he was removed as Amritsar police commissioner on Aug 7 amid a controversy over his remarks on an alleged Pakistan ISI-backed terror conspiracy to target a Jantar Mantar protest.Border range DIG Harmanbir Singh, who had been given additional charge as Amritsar police commissioner after Bhullar’s removal, has now been relieved of the range DIG charge while retaining the Amritsar posting.Suhail Qasim Mir, assistant inspector general (AIG), personnel, replaces Jyoti Yadav as Bathinda SSP. Yadav has been posted commandant, 82nd battalion PAP, Chandigarh, replacing PPS officer Balwinder Singh, who has been posted as AIG, law and order.Varun Sharma, Patiala SSP, has been posted as Mohali SSP, while Harmandeep Singh Hans, Mohali SSP, takes over as Patiala SSP.Vaibhav Choudhary, SP headquarters, Patiala, replaces Bhagirath Singh Meena as Mansa SSP. Meena is now AIG, personnel, replacing Mir.PPS officer Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh replaces Gurmit Singh as Malerkotla SSP. Khakh was AIG, NRI, Jalandhar, and also held additional charge as commandant, In-Service Training Centre (ISTC), Kapurthala, and commandant, 7th battalion PAP, Jalandhar. Gurmit Singh has been posted commandant, ISTC, Kapurthala.PPS officer Manpreet Singh, SP investigation, Sangrur, replaces Daljinder Singh Dhillon as Pathankot SSP. Dhillon is now zonal AIG, CID, Jalandhar, replacing Rajeshwar Singh, who takes over as commandant, 7th battalion PAP, Jalandhar.
