Varanasi: A three-hour-old infant was found abandoned in a field in Govindpur Gangapur area under Rohania police station limits in Varanasi on Tuesday.Local residents spotted the newborn boy and informed the police. According to reports, the child was allegedly abandoned due to fear of social stigma.Rohania SHO Raju Singh reached the spot with a police team soon after receiving the information. The police took the newborn into their care and rushed him to a private hospital for treatment. Doctors began treatment immediately, and the baby’s condition was stated to be stable.Police have launched an investigation and questioned locals to identify the person who abandoned the infant and determine under what circumstances. Child Line has also been informed to ensure the newborn’s continued care and protection.
