Lucknow: Sarojini Nagar MLA Rajeshwar Singh on Monday hoisted a 30-metre-high tricolour at Avikalp Estate in Makdumpur Kaithi and paid tribute to martyrs, freedom fighters and armed forces personnel during the 182nd edition of his public outreach programme, Aapka Vidhayak, Aapke Dwar.The event blended patriotism with welfare initiatives aimed at education, women’s empowerment and youth development. Singh distributed bicycles to six meritorious students, sewing machines to six women and sports kits to five youth teams, encouraging education, self-reliance and sporting talent.Addressing the gathering, Singh recalled the sacrifices of Indian soldiers from the 1947 Kashmir conflict to the Kargil War and anti-terror operations. He also paid homage to freedom fighters, including Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, Ram Prasad Bismil, Chandrashekhar Azad and Khudiram Bose. Calling the tricolour a symbol of India’s heritage and aspirations, he stressed the need to equip children with quality education, technology and equal opportunities.Highlighting his work in the constituency, Singh said more than 2,000 students had been supported with tablets and bicycles, while computer education facilities had been introduced in over 70 schools. He added that 2,500 sewing machines had been distributed through Tara Shakti Kendras to promote women’s financial independence.The MLA said over 14,000 representations had been sent to authorities to resolve public grievances, while more than 2,000 needy residents received medical assistance worth nearly ₹27 crore. He also noted that over 8,000 devotees had visited Ayodhya through the Ramrath initiative.On development, Singh said work had been carried out on 1,575 roads, alongside expansion of infrastructure and industrial projects expected to generate jobs. Later, he visited bereaved families across the constituency, offered condolences and extended financial assistance, including ₹10 lakh support for a school and the education of two girls.
