Fearing the police, man lands on IAF premises, detained

Pune: A 38-year-old man took the phrase “run when the police arrive” a little too seriously. Playing cards with three friends in Chandannagar on Sunday, he panicked when someone shouted, “Police have arrived!” and made a run for it. He scaled a security compound wall, unaware of it being the IAF premises.IAF’s warrant officer Hitesh Dabhi (44) of the IAF quarters lodged a complaint with the airport police. “The man, who was playing cards with his friends around 3pm on Sunday, fled the spot and, in a bid to escape the imaginary police, jumped over the IAF security wall from the Khulewadi side. His escape plan, however, took an unexpected turn when he landed inside the IAF premises and was detained by officials,” an officer from the airport police said.“He was taken to the visitors’ room, where IAF officials conducted an inquiry. It was revealed that the man jumped over the compound wall fearing police action. We released him on Sunday, after verifying all his details and credentials,” the officer added.
