Aizawl: Mizoram minister of state for power and electricity F Rodingliana on Monday reviewed the installation of smart meters under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), along with implementation challenges and consumer complaints, at a meeting with senior departmental officials.The meeting, held in Aizawl, discussed the importance of smart metering as part of the Centre’s efforts to reduce power losses across the country under the RDSS Loss Reduction Scheme.Mizoram currently has around 3.2 lakh electricity consumers, of whom approximately 34,300 have defective meters that are unable to record readings.Around 82,000 smart meters have so far been installed in the state. Officials said about 24.67% of consumers reported higher bills after installation, while 30.24% received lower bills.
