Chandigarh: Haryana has 28,303 factories registered under the Factories Act, 1948. However, there has been a sharp moderation in the number of factory registrations during 2026, with 901 registrations recorded so far, compared with 1,393 in 2025.In reply to an unstarred question in the state assembly, labour minister Anil Vij presented the data. The figures supplied by the minister show that annual registrations have remained volatile over the past five years. The state recorded 1,635 registrations in 2022, which fell to 1,277 in 2023 before recovering to 1,366 in 2024 and 1,393 in 2025. With 901 registrations already recorded in 2026, the pace is lower than the previous full year, although the current-year figure is not comparable with a complete calendar year.Gurugram continues to dominate the industrial map. The district recorded 170 registrations in 2026 so far, followed by Sonipat (150), Faridabad (138), Jhajjar (115), and Panipat (62). Together, these five districts account for over 70% of the registrations recorded in the state so far this year. The data also highlights considerable year-to-year fluctuations in individual districts. Gurugram, for instance, recorded 276 registrations in 2022, 250 in 2023, 251 in 2024 and a peak of 286 in 2025 before registering 170 so far in 2026. Sonipat rose from 209 in 2022 to 268 in 2024 before easing to 244 in 2025 and 150 this year.Faridabad, another major industrial hub, recorded 176 registrations in 2022, 209 in 2023, 224 in 2024, 195 in 2025, and 138 registrations in 2026 so far.The figures indicate that industrial activity remains heavily concentrated in Haryana’s established industrial belts, particularly the Gurugram-Sonipat-Faridabad-Jhajjar-Panipat axis.INFOGRAPHIC | FACTORY REGISTRATIONSYear | Registrations2022 | 1,6352023 | 1,2772024 | 1,3662025 | 1,3932026 | 901TOTAL REGISTERED FACTORIES | 28,3032026 — TOP 5 DISTRICTSGurugram: 170Sonipat: 150Faridabad: 138Jhajjar: 115Panipat: 62KEY TAKEAWAY: 901 registrations have been recorded in 2026 so far — about 35% below the 2025 full-year figure, with the caveat that 2026 is still incomplete.
