Noida: Six people, who stole mobile phones from a logistics company and sold them at discounted prices, were arrested.The company discovered the theft during an audit and lodged a complaint.Police recovered 154 mobile phones worth around Rs 50 lakh from the gang, they said on Monday, adding that Rs 2.5 lakh and a Scorpio allegedly used in the crime were also seized.Those arrested have been identified as Keshav Kumar (30), Manoj Kumar (25), Ravi Kumar (32), Vineet alias Masna (23), Mohammad Shoaib (24) and Haseeb-ur-Rehman (32). One Rakesh, who has been named in the operation but is not among those arrested, is under the scanner.Keshav — the alleged mastermind — was employed as a container driver with Xpressbees Logistics Solution Pvt Ltd, located in the Beta-2 police station area. His job involved transporting consignments of mobile phones manufactured by a company to different locations for delivery.Greater Noida ADCP Santosh Kumar said Keshav “exploited his access to the consignments” by opening the container seals and removing slips from cartons loaded with mobile phones. He would then take out phones with the help of his associates and sell them at different locations.An FIR was registered at Beta-2 police station on July 24 regarding the theft of 165 mobile phones, following the complaint lodged by the company manager. The case was initially registered against Keshav and unidentified persons.Investigators traced the stolen phones using surveillance and CCTV footage, following which the accused were identified and arrested, police said.The case has now been registered under sections 306 (theft by clerk or servant of property in possession of master), 61(2) (criminal conspiracy) and 317(2) (stolen property) of BNS against all six accused.Keshav has been named in several criminal cases, including cases related to theft, receiving stolen property, cheating, criminal breach of trust and possession of illegal arms. His previous cases were registered in Aligarh and Gautam Budh Nagar districts between 2020 and 2024.
