Lucknow: Four people were killed after an out-of-control truck broke through the divider and landed on a car travelling in the opposite lane on the Yamuna Expressway in Jewar, Greater Noida, late Sunday. Police said that of the four killed, three belonged to Maharajganj in UP, while the driver hailed from Rajasthan.Their identities were being ascertained, police said.The accident occurred around 11 pm in the Jewar police station area when a Rajasthan-registered truck (RJ-05 GB-5526) apparently lost control, smashed through the railing and divider, and crossed into the opposite carriageway. The truck then became airborne and crashed onto a Delhi-registered car travelling towards the national capital.The impact severely damaged the car and left all four occupants critically injured. Police reached the spot and used a JCB to move the truck before rushing the injured to Jeevan Kailash Hospital, where doctors declared all four dead.The bodies were sent for post-mortem examination, and efforts were underway to establish the identities of the deceased and inform their families.The crash triggered heavy traffic congestion on one carriageway of the expressway, with vehicles lining up for nearly an hour. ACP Jewar Rajiv Sisodia and a large police force reached the site and cleared the damaged vehicles to restore traffic movement.ACP Sisodia said a preliminary investigation indicated that the truck went out of control, resulting in the accident. The truck driver has been taken into custody and is undergoing a medical examination. Police are investigating the circumstances leading to the crash.
