Varanasi: Taking action against police station in-charges for failing to perform adequately on law and order, crime and traffic regulation fronts, police commissioner Mohit Agrawal on Saturday attached three officers to the police lines. He also reconstituted SOG-2 to tackle problems posed by gamblers and sex racket operators.During a monthly crime review meeting, Agrawal attached Chowk police station in-charge Dilip Kumar Mishra and Rajatalab station officer Dayaram to the police lines, finding their performance in recent crime cases and on the law and order front dissatisfactory. Inspector Rajiv Kumar Singh was also sent to the police lines from Phulpur police station to complete the formalities of relieving him from the district, as he had been transferred to another district.While reviewing police station-wise performance and ensuring a reshuffle, he moved inspector Ajay Raj Verma from Manduadih to Phulpur police station, inspector Vijay Kumar Shukla from Chetganj to Chowk, sub-inspector Digambar Upadhyay from Lohta to Manduadih, sub-inspector Pawan Pandey from Ramna outpost to Chetganj, sub-inspector Abhijeet Singh from the media cell to Lohta, and sub-inspector Jitendra Kumar from Rohania to Rajatalab. At the ACP level, Apoorv Pandey was shifted from Cantt to Cyber Crime, while Pragya Pathak, returning from leave, was given charge of Cantt.Agrawal directed SHOs to hold daily public hearings, answer CUG phones or call back, and ensure courteous conduct. He ordered quality disposal of pending investigations, zero tolerance towards crimes against women, immediate registration of FIRs, and full detection of robbery and chain-snatching cases.The new SOG-2, led by SI Pankaj Singh Chauhan, will track gambling, betting, prostitution, illegal hookah bars and drug sales. SHOs will be held accountable if local criminals commit offences elsewhere.The CP also stressed the recovery of money in cyber fraud cases using BNS and BNSS provisions, action against encroachments on roads and footpaths, daily foot patrols, checking of CCTV cameras at schools, coaching centres and hostels, round-the-clock CCTV recording in police stations, ACP-level review of every FIR and missing-person report, and special arrangements for Krishna Janmashtami and Ganesh Chaturthi.
