Jaipur: Three people, including a newborn, were killed after a car carrying relatives returning home from hospital was trapped between a camper and an SUV in Bhardal village of Bikaner district.The accident occurred around 7pm in the Bajju police station area. Six people were travelling in the car. The other three, including the woman who had recently delivered the baby, were seriously injured. They were taken to Bajju Hospital and later referred to PBM Hospital in Bikaner.Police said the family was from Madasar village in Phalodi and was returning home after being discharged from hospital. Their car collided with a camper about 30km from Bajju. Seconds later, a Scorpio travelling behind rammed into the car.The car’s occupants remained trapped for nearly half an hour before rescuers pulled them out. Richhpal, the newborn’s maternal uncle, died while being treated at Bajju Hospital.The newborn and her maternal grandmother, Ailchi, died while being taken to Bikaner. The baby’s mother, Badhu Devi, and three others were seriously injured. They are undergoing treatment at PBM Hospital.Police said the drivers of the camper and SUV fled the spot after the accident. Their identities have not yet been established.Police also spoke to local residents as part of the investigation. Police said that one of the relatives of the victims has filed an FIR. The bodies were handed over to the family after post-mortem. “The investigation is underway into the case; we are checking CCTVs,” said an official.
