MUMBAI: The Kalachowki police have registered a case against operators of three Instagram accounts for allegedly circulating a video related to a clash during the Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi celebrations, claiming that the footage could create communal tension.The complaint was filed by police constable Vikram Khaire attached to the Cyber Squad of Kalachowki police station.According to his complaint, on August 29, while on day duty, Khaire was tasked with monitoring social media content that could potentially disturb public order.While checking Instagram, he allegedly came across a video uploaded on August 26 showing a confrontation between two groups, with police personnel seen intervening to control the situation.The video carried the headline, “They tried to tear the banner of Ganpati, so the people of Lalbaug Parel gave a befitting reply,” and featured the song “Jalwa Re Jalwa” in the background, the complaint stated.The police identified the Instagram accounts allegedly associated with the circulation of the video.The complainant alleged that the accounts circulated the video with the intention of misleading people and creating unrest in society.The police have registered a case based on the complaint and are investigating the social media accounts, the origin and circulation of the video and the circumstances surrounding its publication.
