It has also seized 68.138 kg of methamphetamine and 11.531 kg of crystal meth during the same period.Other seizures include 145.499 kg of cannabis (marijuana) and other clinical drugs widely abused by youths in the state.Meanwhile, leaders of the central committee of Young Mizo Association (YMA) said the availability of drugs in Mizoram had declined significantly due to concerted efforts by enforcement agencies and civil society groups. They said the reduced availability had prompted some drug users to travel to Assam to purchase drugs. The issue was raised in a meeting of ‘Working Committee on Ruihhlo Do’ (combat against drugs) chaired by Mizoram excise & narcotics minister Lalnghinglova Hmar on Friday. The committee suggested that a meeting of the superintendents of police of Mizoram’s Kolasib district and Assam’s Cachar district be held soon to initiate coordinated efforts to combat drug trafficking along the inter-state border.
