3 held for links with inter-state drug networks

Shimla: In a crackdown on organised drug trafficking, the Shimla district police on Saturday claimed to have arrested three persons linked to inter-state drug networks.In the first case, police arrested Azad Singh, a resident of Naraingarh in Haryana, at Ahmedabad airport while he was allegedly attempting to flee to Abu Dhabi.He is linked to a network involving Vijay Kumar and Shubhkaran Singh alias Sultan, through which 1.120 kg of high-grade heroin was earlier supplied to Shimla.The investigation revealed that the Signal app was used for communication among these accused so that their activities could remain beyond the scrutiny of investigating agencies.In another case, Jubbal police claimed to have arrested the main supplier and operator, Sunny Singh, in Ambala. He is involved in seven FIRs under the NDPS Act registered in Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh.The investigation into a 24.10-gram heroin seizure revealed links across Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana, including a location-based delivery system.In the third case, Sadar Shimla police arrested Karan of Amritsar, the alleged kingpin of a heroin trafficking network.Financial investigations reportedly traced Rs 3 lakh in transactions linked to this drug network. Police said investigations into the financial and supply chains were underway.
