Fake ID, hotel murder: Married woman found dead in Rohtak, accused boyfriend on ventilator after suicide bid
Police learned the couple had checked into the hotel using a fake identity document

ROHTAK: Neeraj (25), accused of murdering his married girlfriend Ruby in a hotel in Rohtak, is in critical condition. He was brought to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS), Rohtak, on Friday afternoon.Before being shifted to PGIMS, Neeraj had been on a ventilator at a private hospital for the past two days.According to the police, Ruby and Neeraj had met at a hotel three days ago and had taken a room using a fake identity document.Neeraj left the hotel around 2 pm and told the hotel staff that he would return shortly, while Ruby remained in the room.When he did not return by evening, hotel employees knocked on the door. After receiving no response, they opened the room with a master key and found Ruby’s body lying on the bed.A chunni was tied around her neck. Police suspect that she was strangled to death.Police later learnt that Neeraj had allegedly attempted suicide after Ruby’s death. He was subsequently admitted to a private hospital, where he remained on a ventilator for two days before being brought to PGIMS on Friday.The investigation has also revealed that Ruby was married to a Navy personnel, around six months ago. Ruby’s brother Rohit has told the police that Ruby had returned to the village about a week ago.Two days before her death, she had allegedly told him that Neeraj, a youth from their village, was harassing her.According to Rohit’s statement, Ruby had gone towards the city for some work. At around 5 pm, he received information that his sister had died at a hotel.Rohit told police that when he contacted the hotel owner, he learnt that Ruby and Neeraj had arrived at the hotel in the morning and were staying there.When he went to the room, he found Ruby’s body lying on the bed with a chunni tied around her neck.He alleged that Neeraj had strangled his sister to death.After the discovery of Ruby’s body, police tried to trace Neeraj and learnt that he had allegedly attempted suicide by hanging.He was admitted to a private hospital. Police subsequently reached the hospital and spoke to his family.Civil Lines police station SHO Mahender Singh said police had received information about the body of a married woman lying inside a hotel room.A police team reached the spot, took the body into custody and began an investigation. A case was registered against the accused on the complaint of the deceased woman’s brother.
