Kolkata: Calcutta High Court on Friday refused to grant any interim relief to All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) over dismantling of billboard at party general secretary Abhishek Banerjee’s Camac Street office on Thursday afternoon stating that the issue was “too premature”.Senior advocate Kishore Datta, representing Mamata Banerjee-faction of AITC, sought for restoration of the billboard and an order on KMC to not undertake any further demolition work at the office.Justice Raja Basu Chowdhury observed, “It is assumption. On basis of that, if I pass an order that will be wrong.”But Justice Chowdhury held that since the billboard has already been removed, there was no need for any interim directions at this stage. All parties have been directed to submit their affidavits within two weeks.Advocate Jaydip Kar, who appeared on behalf of Piramal properties, submitted that no permission was taken for putting the billboard on top of the roof. He has also lodged a complaint with Shakespear Sarani Police Station in this matter. He has sought to be added as a party in the case.The KMC authorities submitted that rules were not followed and prior permission was not taken before putting up the billboard. It was submitted that as per the rules, prior permission has to be taken to put up the hoardings or billboards in the municipal area and taxes have to be paid for that. The matter was heard around 12.30 pm. In its petition, TMC also sought to submit names of the KMC staff and Kolkata Police personnel who went to the Camac Street office on Thursday to remove the billboard. But the court rejected it.
