Navi Mumbai: A 23-year-old MBA student from Kharghar, sector 34, was rescued from a cave atop Kharghar hill by a team of fire brigade personnel. Three local youths were on an adventurous trek, but the youth was stuck for around an hour, clutching onto the rock surface. The incident took place off driving range area earlier this week. Two others couldn’t assist him, but sought the help of the fire brigade. The rescuers used a rappelling method to pull out the youth from the cliff down a small waterfall. The three friends had trekked the hill in the afternoon but the SOS call was made in the evening. Kharghar fireman Ketan Patil said, “It was drizzling during the rescue operation. Our men scaled up the slippery surface hill through the weeds, off the normal trek path. The two other students were on a safe surface. The victim was shaking after sticking to the surface for around an hour and was about to lose balance. We rescued him at the nick of time.”Patil added, “We pulled him up from 20 ft down. A fall would have proven fatal for the student. The youth was continuously provided with rope assistance while scaling down with two of our personnel guarding him because of the slippery pathway and his feeling unwell”. The fire brigade has appealed to the public not to venture at Kharghar hill or the waterfall.
