Chandigarh: Stepping up its attack on the BJP, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Thursday approached the Chandigarh DGP, seeking an impartial probe into allegations of money transactions linked to the passage of agendas in the municipal corporation.In a complaint submitted to the DGP, AAP leaders referred to the recently surfaced Rs 25 lakh transaction controversy in Sector 40, alleging that money was exchanged for securing approval of an agenda in the MC. The party claimed that during a dispute outside a commercial building Saturday evening, an IT professional, Narayan Ojha of Manimajra, demanded the return of Rs 25 lakh allegedly paid in connection with getting an agenda cleared.AAP further alleged that the husband of a sitting BJP councillor was heard in a purported statement claiming that Rs 5 lakh out of the Rs 25 lakh was his share. The party has sought a detailed investigation into the role of all those allegedly involved and demanded strict legal action against anyone found guilty.The delegation also raised the issue of a viral audio clip allegedly linked to an Rs 80 lakh transaction, urging police to secure the original recording and subject it to forensic examination. AAP leaders said all aspects mentioned in the audio, including the alleged money trail, market association links, physical altercation and purported references to police officials, should be thoroughly investigated.Seeking an impartial inquiry, the party demanded the constitution of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) under the direct supervision of the DGP. Alternatively, it said the matter could be handed over to the Vigilance Bureau or the CBI for investigation.Congress Also Demands ProbeThe Congress has also sought a high-level investigation into the controversy. Senior party leader Chandermukhi Sharma demanded that investigators examine the complete money trail, call records and bank accounts of all those allegedly involved in horse-trading during the mayoral election.“Chandigarh does not need BJP’s cash-and-carry politics. It needs answers from the party’s top leadership,” Sharma said.
