Jaipur: Jaipur district girls team brought glory to the region by finishing runners-up in the 9th Senior and 8th Sub-Junior Rajasthan Ball Badminton Championships which concluded here on Thursday.Churu reigned supreme in the sub-junior girls category, while Jaipur had to be satisfied with the second spot.In the first semifinal, Jaipur ousted Bhilwara 35-26, 35-19 to advance to the final. Churu defeated Tonk 31-18, 31-17 in the other semis.The final saw the teams of Jaipur and Churu face off. Churu put on a superb performance, shocking Jaipur 35-18, 35-25 to clinch the title.Thus, in the sub-junior girls’ category, Churu finished first, Jaipur second, and Tonk and Bhilwara third. The Jaipur team’s runner-up finish was a significant achievement for the district.According to Shaukat Ali Mansoori, general secretary of the Rajasthan Ball Badminton Association, players from across the state displayed excellent performance in the 9th Senior and 8th Sub-Junior State Level Ball Badminton Championships. Beawar became the champion in the senior men’s categoryIn the quarter-final matches of the senior men’s category, Karauli thumped Kota 35-20, 35-16, Churu downed Jaipur 35-31, 35-33, Beawar dismissed Chittorgarh 25-35, 35-35, 35-20, while Tonk got the better of Bikaner 35-24, 25-28 to enter the semi-finals.In the first semi-final, Beawar accounted for Karauli 35-21, 35-17 and in the second semis, Tonk prevailed over Churu 35-19, 35-18 to storm into the final.The final between Beawar and Tonk was extremely exciting. In a close contest, Beawar squeezed past Tonk 25-35, 36-34, 35-33 to lift the senior men’s title.In the senior men’s category, the teams of Beawar secured first place, Tonk second and Karauli and Churu third.Churu dominates in the senior women’s categoryIn the quarter-finals of the senior women’s section, Tonk thrashed Jodhpur 35-17, 35-21, Bikaner outclassed Bharatpur 35-21, 35-14, Chittorgarh edged out Jaipur 30-35, 35-30, 35-24, while Churu beat Beawar 35-15, 35-22.Tonk continued their march by defeating Chittorgarh 35-20, 35-25, while Churu eves were stretched by Bikaner 35-24, 28-35, 35-19 in the semis.
