Shillong: Meghalaya SDMA issued helpline numbers on Thursday to trace residents affected by floods in Nepal.The Meghalaya State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) sought information on residents who may be missing or uncontactable in Nepal, where flash floods and mudslides struck Rasuwa district near the Nepal-Tibet border on August 26.Family members, friends, relatives, travel agencies, tour operators and members of the public with information were asked to contact the dedicated helpline at 6009924512. They may also call 112, 1070 or chief minister’s CM Connect number, 1971, for assistance.A public notice issued by Meghalaya SDMA executive director requested callers to provide, if available, the person’s name, age, contact number, address in Meghalaya, last known location in Nepal, date and time of last communication, and the family member’s or informant’s name and contact details.“The information will be compiled and shared with the concerned authorities for verification and assistance,” the SDMA said, seeking public cooperation.
