At least 934 people who entered the state without valid permits have been apprehended this year, the minister said. Those found staying beyond the validity of their permits are booked at police stations under the Eastern Bengal Frontier Regulation (EBFR), 1873. Their cases are subsequently forwarded to district courts, which decide whether they should be fined or pushed back from the state. An ILP is an official travel document required by Indian citizens entering protected areas, including Mizoram. The system operates under the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation, 1873, notified by the British government in 1875.Non-residents, particularly non-tribal people, are required to obtain an ILP to enter Mizoram.
