MUMBAI: Police have booked three people in connection with a clash that broke out in Parel on Wednesday night following an Eid procession, while additional police personnel have been deployed in the area as a precautionary measure.The Bhoiwada police have booked Rehan Masood Sayyad (19), Adil Khan Ahmed Khan (19) and Miraj Mohammad Firoz Rais (18). Police are also trying to identify other unidentified persons allegedly involved in the mob and have launched a manhunt for the accused.According to police, the exact trigger for the confrontation is yet to be established. Officials said several claims and posts have circulated on social media, but it would be premature to draw conclusions before the investigation is completed.Police suspect that members of two groups exchanged slogans, followed by a verbal altercation that escalated into a clash. Reports of stone pelting and the use of mild police force also emerged from the area.A case has been registered under Sections 189(1), 189(2), 189(3), 191(1), 191(2), 195(1), 118(1) and 121(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with Sections 137 and 133 of the Maharashtra Police Act. The accused have also been booked for allegedly violating prohibitory orders issued by the Mumbai Police Commissioner restricting unlawful assembly.Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Manoj Sharma appealed to residents not to believe rumours. He said senior officers were deployed at the spot and the situation was under control.Police said there was no need for panic and maintained that the area remained calm after the incident.
