Gurgaon: A two-day campaign will be held on Saturday and Sunday as part of the second phase of the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.According to the district administration, booth level officers (BLOs) will remain available at their designated offices during the special campaign to assist residents with voter-related work.The drive will cover registration of new voters, submission of required documents, updating of electoral roll details and completion of other pending processes. Documents and details received during the campaign will also be uploaded online.Election officials have urged residents who have received notices from BLOs regarding incomplete documents to approach their nearest BLO during the special drive and submit the required papers.The exercise will allow such voters to complete the verification process and get their details updated in the electoral roll.Deputy commissioner and district election officer Uttam Singh urged first-time voters to complete their registration instead of waiting until the last date.Officials said inclusion of every eligible citizen in the electoral roll was important for ensuring their participation in the democratic process.Officials said those who have completed 18 years of age as of July 1 but have not yet registered as voters can approach their respective BLOs with the necessary documents and apply for inclusion in the electoral roll by Aug 30.The special campaign is part of SIR Phase 2 being undertaken on the directions of the Election Commission of India to make electoral rolls updated.Besides enrolling new voters, the exercise will address pending cases, document-related issues and other discrepancies in voter records.Singh appealed to residents to participate in the revision exercise and provide the required documents wherever necessary.He said preparing an error-free electoral roll required not only coordination among election officials but also awareness and cooperation from citizens.He directed electoral registration officers, assistant electoral registration officers, supervisors and BLOs to work in close coordination and expedite the SIR Phase 2 process.Officials have been asked to ensure that all necessary procedures are completed within the prescribed timeline.
