Kolkata: Calcutta University is set to provide a final chance for sixth-semester students to reconsider whether they wish to exit after the sixth semester or continue to complete the four-year programme. The notice stated that the edit option would be live for 15 days after sixth semester’s results are out.The move came after the university received multiple appeals from candidates who had selected the wrong option, while several others failed to make a decision. The notice reads: “Since the enrolment form cannot be submitted without selecting an option, many students have requested an opportunity to reconsider their choice after the publication of results.”The university had originally provided this option prior to the sixth-semester examinations, when the form for admission to PG programmes was released. A CU official said, “Many who initially opted to exit now want to change their decision, as most students want to pursue the four-year programme to earn an Honours degree.”The university has permitted students to utilize multiple entry and exit options in accordance with the National Education Policy 2020. Candidates who have previously completed a summer internship in any even semester are eligible for both options — continuing into semesters 7 and 8, or opting to exit.
