Gorakhpur: A 25-year-old man who had been missing for the past two days was found unconscious inside a quilt cover near the Kotiya canal under the Sahjanwa police station limits on Wednesday, police said.The victim, identified as Ram Pravesh Sahani, was discovered by villagers who noticed a quilt cover lying near the canal bank. Suspicious, they opened it and found Sahani inside in an unconscious state.He was immediately rushed to the Community Health Centre and later referred to BRD Medical College for further treatment.According to sources, Sahani was allegedly involved in a relationship with a woman from the same village. Locals alleged that the two were caught together at the woman’s house, following which her family members allegedly assaulted him, tied him up, placed him inside the quilt cover, and abandoned him near the canal.His family had lodged a missing person complaint on Tuesday after he failed to return home.SHO Sanjay Kumar Mishra said a case had been registered on the basis of the missing person report. “Preliminary investigation indicates that the incident is linked to a love affair. Further inquiry is underway, and appropriate action will be taken based on the findings,” he said.
