Varanasi: An elderly farmer was found dead in Kachnar village under Rajatalab police station area on Tuesday evening.His body, with injury marks on his head and face, was found lying behind his under-construction house. His family alleged that he was murdered over a land dispute.According to reports, Heera Lal (65) had left home around 7 pm to relieve himself. When he did not return for a long time, his family started searching for him and found his body lying in a pool of blood behind the house. They informed the police.Rajatalab police allegedly treated the case as an accident following which the family members created a ruckus alleging police negligence. They claimed it to be a case of murder and demanded a proper investigation.As the situation escalated, ADCP of Varanasi’s Gomti Zone, Nripendra, arrived at the spot along with a heavy police force. He pacified the family and called in a dog squad for investigation. The team inspected the crime scene.Following assurances from senior officials, the family calmed down. The body was sent for post-mortem.
