Ludhiana: The Dhandari Industrial Welfare Association has urged senior National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) officials to immediately repair a badly damaged road stretch near Giaspura Bridge, Dhandari railway station, and Mittal Kanda Bridge in Ludhiana.Association members stated that large potholes along these key industrial corridors pose a constant accident risk to commuters and cause financial losses to local factories. Two-wheeler riders and motorists frequently sustain injuries while negotiating the damaged roads.According to the association, contractors have relying on temporary fills using loose construction material. However, rainfall and heavy traffic routinely wash this material away within days, leaving the road surface in a worse condition.Pointing out that taxpayers and toll-payers deserve safe, motorable infrastructure, the body demanded an immediate inspection by NHAI officials and permanent resurfacing instead of quick-fix repairs.The association warned that if concrete action is not taken soon, members will be forced to launch agitations, though they prefer to avoid road blockades.“I have raised the issue with the authorities several times, but no permanent solution has been provided so far. If a serious accident takes place, who will be held responsible?” asked association president Satnam Singh Makkar.
