Ambala: Six H1N1 cases have been reported in Ambala and Yamunanagar, prompting health authorities to step up surveillance and advise residents to take precautions against the infection.Ambala civil surgeon Dr Renu Beri said three cases had been reported in the district, including a four-year-old girl who suffered a seizure and was referred to PGIMER, Chandigarh. One patient is admitted to Railway Hospital, while another is undergoing treatment at a private hospital.Yamunanagar has also reported three cases.Beri said isolation wards had been prepared at govt hospitals and arrangements made for testing and treatment. Govt and private healthcare facilities have been directed to notify cases to the health department.She advised people with fever, cough, sore throat or breathing difficulty to avoid crowded places and seek medical advice. People should cover their nose and mouth while coughing or sneezing, wash their hands frequently and avoid touching their face with unwashed hands.Pregnant women, children, elderly people and those with pre-existing illnesses should take extra precautions, she said. The department also advised against taking antibiotics or other medicines without medical advice.
