Aizawl: Mizoram govt has called for the withdrawal of the proposed Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026, or, failing that, changes to some of its provisions, CM Lalduhoma told the state assembly on Tuesday.In a written reply to a question from K Laldawngliana of the opposition Mizo National Front (MNF), Lalduhoma said the state govt, the Mizoram Kohhran Hruaitute Committee (MKHC), which comprises 16 major church denominations, and the Council of Churches in Mizoram (CCM), an alliance of nine churches, had submitted a joint memorandum to Union home minister Amit Shah on Aug 6.The memorandum called for the withdrawal of the proposed legislation or, failing that, the removal of provisions that could cause significant losses to NGOs and other entities belonging to minority communities, CM said.Lalduhoma said the state govt, the MKHC and the CCM submitted another joint memorandum on Aug 9, seeking the withdrawal of the proposed FCRA amendment Bill or its referral to a joint parliamentary committee (JPC).
