Jaipur: Rajasthan High Court Monday stayed the operation and execution of a Labour Court order directing action against former RSRTC CMD Sandeep Verma and current Managing Director Purushottam Sharma in connection with payment of dues to retired conductor Sitaram.Justice Anuroop Singhi passed an order on a petition by Chief Manager, RSRTC, Vidhyadhar Nagar Agar, and Managing Director, RSRTC, challenging the Labour Court order dated Aug 13. Court gave the respondent three days to file a reply and listed the matter for Sept 1.As placed before High Court, Labour Court had directed that salaries of Verma and Sharma not be released until the specified interest amount was recovered from them personally, ordered recovery of 6% interest from the two officials, and issued directions on FIR, departmental action and criminal contempt proceedings.The dispute relates to weekly-rest dues claimed by RSRTC conductor Sitaram for work performed on declared weekly holidays between 1996 and 2013. Labour Court, by order dated June 30, 2026, determined the dues payable. That order was challenged before High Court in a connected writ petition. On July 27, 2026, a coordinate bench stayed the operation of the June 30 order, subject to RSRTC paying the amount towards weekly rest for the period prior to 2002 within 10 days.Appearing for RSRTC, Additional Advocate General Bhuwnesh Sharma said the corporation complied with the High Court condition. He said Rs 13,076 towards weekly rest for 52 days was paid to Sitaram on July 30. “After compliance with the July 27 order, there was no occasion for Labour Court to pass the subsequent Aug 13 order,” he argued.Respondent counsel Mangal Chand Taylor appeared as caveator. The matter will be heard along with connected petition No. 13319/2026 on Sept 1, 2026.
