Panaji: The state cabinet on Tuesday approved amendments to the Goa Cooperative Societies Act, 2001, to address long-pending issues involving redevelopment of cooperative housing societies, execution of conveyance deeds and the proposed Society’s Advisory Harmony and Redressal Authority (SAHARA).The Goa Cooperative Societies (Amendment) Bill, 2025, has been referred to the law department for vetting before it is placed before the assembly.The proposed amendments are aimed at bringing into force provisions relating to redevelopment of cooperative housing societies, deemed conveyance and SAHARA, which govt said were directly linked to the interests of society members.Chief minister Pramod Sawant had assured the assembly that an amnesty scheme would be introduced to resolve issues relating to conveyance deeds. Accordingly, provisions for deemed conveyance have been incorporated into the Act.The Bill also seeks to enable cooperative societies to file returns online.
