Chandigarh: Ahead of the monsoon session of the Haryana assembly, speaker Harvinder Kalyan on Monday inspected the assembly complex and reviewed arrangements inside the House.He also reviewed the committee and meeting rooms, technical infrastructure, media facilities and other support systems. Kalyan directed officials to complete all works in time and ensure close coordination so that there is no lapse at any level.The monsoon session of the Haryana assembly will commence on August 27.The speaker said the success of a session depends not only on administrative preparedness but also on the dignity, discipline and quality of debate in the House. He said efforts were being made to ensure that issues concerning the people of Haryana are discussed in a serious, constructive and positive manner.As part of the preparations, Kalyan has called a meeting with senior officers from Haryana, Punjab and the Chandigarh administration on Tuesday to review security arrangements.The meeting will be attended by the Haryana DGP and the ADGP (CID); the Chandigarh deputy commissioner; the Punjab vidhan sabha secretary; the CISF Commandant; and senior Haryana vidhan sabha officials.The meeting will focus on security deployment, inter-agency coordination and related matters during the session.The Business Advisory Committee will meet on Wednesday under Kalyan’s chairmanship to decide the course of proceedings, issues for discussion and legislative business to be taken up.The meeting will be attended by CM Nayab Singh Saini; ministers Anil Vij, Mahipal Dhanda and Krishan Kumar Bedi; leader of the opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda; and MLA Geeta Bhukkal.Deputy speaker Krishan Lal Middha and legislators Savitri Jindal and Arjun Chautala will attend the meeting as special invitees.Kalyan said the assembly was the state’s highest democratic forum, and both treasury and opposition benches must prioritise public-interest issues. Ensuring optimum use of every sitting and maximum opportunity for debate will remain the session’s key priority, he added.
