Pune: The 19th edition of the Kirloskar Vasundhara International Film Festival (KVIFF), held at the Pune International Centre, Pashan, concluded on Saturday with two organisations being recognised for their contribution to environmental conservation.Kirloskar Vasundhara Sanman, honouring organisations which create large-scale environmental impact, was presented to The Timbaktu Collective for its work with marginalised communities in drought-hit Anantapuramu. The collective helped thousands of families build community-owned cooperatives and alternative banking institutions, while promoting organic farming as a sustainable livelihood.Kirloskar Vasundhara Mitra, given to individuals, grassroots leaders and community champions driving local environmental action, was awarded to Cause to Connect. Its flagship Hunnar Gurukul programme combines vocational training with efforts to help young people become responsible and self-reliant members of their communities. Participants receive hands-on training in trades including carpentry, masonry and bamboo craft.“Today’s awardees demonstrate the dedication, innovation and perseverance needed to meet environmental challenges,” said Arti Kirloskar, director, SL Kirloskar CSR Foundation. “Their work inspires communities and proves that every effort, big or small, can make a lasting difference.”
