Gurgaon: Light to moderate rain is likely at a few places in the city on Monday. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast similar rain at isolated places on Tuesday, with no warning issued for either day.The city recorded a maximum temperature of 32.8 degrees Celsius at the Gurgaon automatic weather station on Sunday, 1.1 degrees Celsius lower than the previous day. The minimum temperature was 27.1 degrees Celsius, up 2.8 degrees Celsius from a day earlier. The city did not receive rain in the 24 hours ending 8.30am Sunday, though light rain was recorded in isolated parts between 8.30am and 5.30pm.According to IMD’s weather bulletin issued on Sunday, light to moderate rain is likely at a few places in the city on Aug 24. The weather office has also forecast rain at isolated places in the city on Aug 25, after which rainfall activity is expected to remain limited to isolated pockets.Rain is expected to be more widespread in northern parts of Haryana on Monday, with light to moderate showers likely at many places in Panchkula, Ambala and Yamunanagar. In Gurgaon and several other districts, including Rewari, Jhajjar, Nuh, Palwal, Faridabad, Rohtak, Jind, Charkhi Dadri, Chandigarh, Kurukshetra, Karnal, Sonipat and Panipat, rain is likely at a few places.The forecast marks a shift from Sunday, when the IMD had warned of heavy rain at isolated places in Haryana. The weather office has not issued a heavy-rain warning for Monday.Several parts of Haryana received heavy rain in the 24 hours preceding Sunday morning. Shahzadpur in Ambala recorded 14cm, Damla AWS in Yamunanagar 10cm and Saraswati Nagar 9cm. Jagdishpur AWS in Sonipat, Kalka, Sadhaura and Tajewala recorded 5cm each.IMD attributed the weather activity to an upper-air cyclonic circulation over north Haryana and adjoining areas, extending up to 3.1km above mean sea level. The monsoon trough is passing through northern parts of the country towards a low-pressure area over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas.The state forecast for the remainder of the week indicates a gradual decline in rainfall activity, with isolated light to moderate rain likely in parts of Haryana after Aug 24.
