Kalyan: A 28-year-old Dombivli woman has alleged that her husband concealed a physical problem before marriage, took possession of her 40 tolas of gold and later sent her a divorce notice on WhatsApp after dropping her at her parental home on the pretext of giving her a “surprise”.Acting on her complaint, Vishnu Nagar police have registered a case against her husband and his family members and launched an investigation.According to the complaint, the woman had registered on a matrimonial website to find a life partner. She subsequently received a proposal from a Karnataka-based man and, after the families held discussions, the couple married in Kerala.The woman alleged that her father spent around Rs 7 lakh on the wedding and gave her 40 tolas of gold as stridhan. After she moved to Karnataka, she allegedly discovered that her husband had no interest in physical relations and had a physical problem that had not been disclosed before the marriage. She claimed that her husband told her he had married only due to pressure from his parents. He allegedly later took her gold on the pretext of keeping it safely. She also alleged that her in-laws subjected her to mental harassment and abuse.The woman further alleged that her husband asked her to pack clothes for four days, promising a “surprise”, but instead flew with her from Bengaluru to Mumbai and dropped her at her parental home in Dombivli, saying he was leaving for training in Hyderabad. He later stopped responding to her calls, and she allegedly received a divorce notice on WhatsApp.Police are investigating the allegations, and further action will follow based on the probe.
