Chandigarh: The District Bar Association (DBA), Chandigarh, has announced the schedule for its 2026 elections, with polling set to take place on Sept 11 at the District Courts Complex, Sector 43.According to the election committee, nomination papers can be filed on Aug 25 and 26 at the executive committee office on the first floor of the service block. Scrutiny of nominations will be completed on August 27.Candidates wishing to withdraw their nominations may do so in writing on Aug 29 between 2.15pm and 4pm.Polling will be conducted in two sessions on Sept 11, from 10am to 1pm and from 2pm to 4.30pm. Voting will take place at the Gents Bar Room on the first floor of the Service Block at the District Courts Complex.Elections will be held for the posts of president, vice-president, vice-president (women), secretary, joint secretary, treasurer, library secretary (women), and executive members. There are five posts each for senior and junior executive members, with two posts in each category reserved for women advocates.The election committee has also notified the nomination fees. Candidates for the president’s post will have to pay Rs 41,000. The fee is Rs 31,000 each for vice-president and secretary, Rs 21,000 each for joint secretary, treasurer and library secretary, Rs 10,000 for senior executive member, and Rs 7,500 for junior executive member.Nomination forms will be available at the DBA Chandigarh front office from August 24 during working hours, beginning at 9.30am.
