Ahmedabad: Students will now be able to understand complex concepts in subjects such as science and mathematics through practical and interactive digital learning, with Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) making more than 845 curriculum-based virtual labs and digital learning resources available on DIKSHA platform.The initiative has been undertaken in line with the recommendations of the National Education Policy (NEP). The virtual lab content has been developed by CIET-NCERT in collaboration with ministry of education and ministry of electronics and information technology. The resources have been systematically aligned with the NCERT curriculum, specific classes, subjects, chapters and prescribed learning outcomes.Through these virtual labs, students can conduct interactive experiments from home without requiring physical laboratory equipment. Simulations and animations will allow learners to explore scientific and mathematical concepts practically and understand difficult theories in a simpler and more engaging manner. The resources can also be accessed after school hours, allowing students to learn at their own convenience.The digital resources are expected to benefit students in schools where advanced laboratory facilities are limited. Teachers can use the virtual labs to demonstrate scientific and mathematical phenomena in classrooms, while parents can also support children in practical learning at home.CBSE has provided multiple access points to make the resources easily available. Students can browse content on DIKSHA portal and app based on class, subject and chapter. They can also access relevant resources by scanning QR codes provided at the beginning of chapters in NCERT textbooks. An AI-based chatbot facility will further help students ask questions and locate relevant learning resources.CBSE has clarified that virtual laboratories are not a replacement for physical laboratories, but a supplementary learning facility. The board has encouraged school principals and teachers to motivate students to make maximum use of the digital resources for deeper conceptual and practical understanding.
