Bhilwara: Badi Sadri police in Chittorgarh district arrested a man Sunday for allegedly posing as a soldier of the Indian Army’s Rajputana Rifles and creating fake social media accounts to circulate photos, videos and reels of himself wearing an Army uniform.Chittorgarh superintendent of police Dharmendra Singh said Military Intelligence, Pune, informed Badi Sadri police on Aug 21 that Bharat Singh, son of Ramsingh Rajput and a resident of Khardevla, had allegedly impersonated an Army soldier and created fake social media accounts to circulate videos related to the force.A special team was formed under the supervision of additional superintendent of police Gajendra Singh and led by Badi Sadri station house officer Bhagwanlal. Police detained Bharat and examined two Android phones found in his possession. During the probe, police found accounts on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube carrying his photograph in an Army uniform as the profile picture.Police said Bharat was not a member of the Indian Army but was allegedly making videos and reels in Army uniform and circulating them on social media. He was arrested and a case was registered under different sections of the BNS and IT Act.Police said a criminal case had earlier also been registered against Bharat, in which a chargesheet has already been filed in court.
