Gurgaon: A 53-year-old man died two days after he was allegedly hit by a speeding car at a petrol pump in Sector 102 on Dwarka Expressway.Mukesh, a resident of Farukhnagar, who succumbed to his injuries during treatment, had stopped at BP Expressway with relatives after visiting Sheetla Mata temple to refill CNG at 12.30pm on Wednesday.According to a complaint filed by his son Ajay, while others had stepped out of the vehicle, Mukesh went to use the washroom. When he was returning towards the vehicle, a car driven at a high speed struck him. The impact caused Mukesh to fall and suffer multiple injuries, including a head injury.“The car driver entered the petrol pump premises at high speed and fled the spot after hitting my father. We are still clueless about the accused driver,” Ajay told TOI.Petrol pump employees and a relative, Arvind, rushed Mukesh to Govt Hospital in Sector 10, where doctors referred him to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi. The family took him to SGT Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment on Friday.“The investigating officer obtained his medico-legal case record and twice sought medical permission to record his statement, on Aug 19 and Aug 20, but doctors declared him unfit to give a statement. We later learnt that he had been referred for further treatment and family took him to SGT Hospital where he died on Aug 21,” a cop said.His body was kept in the hospital mortuary for postmortem examination.Based on Ajay’s complaint, a case was registered under sections 281 (rash driving) and 106 (causing death due to negligence) of the BNS against the unidentified driver at Rajendra Park police station, and further investigation is underway to identify and trace the vehicle and its driver.
