Acoi temple dispute: Police register case against 14

Mapusa: Following an order from the district and sessions court in North Goa, the Mapusa police have registered a case against 14 individuals, including six men and eight women and several unidentified associates for allegedly forming an unlawful assembly, wrongful restraint, and assaulting three residents on April 1, 2026.The FIR stems from a dispute over worship management and entry rights at the Shree Simeshwar Devasthan premises in Acoi, Mapusa. According to the complainant, the local accused gathered near the temple and hurled verbal abuses and derogatory comments, and threatened them with dire consequences.The group reportedly surrounded the victims, physically assaulting them with slaps, kicks, and fist blows, causing injuries.
