Over 5,000 take PU law entrance for 360 seats

Chandigarh: Total of 5,784 candidates appeared for the entrance test for admission to the five-year integrated BA LLB (Hons) and BCom LLB (Hons) courses offered by Panjab University.The test was conducted at the University Institute of Legal Studies on the PU campus and its regional centres in Ludhiana and Hoshiarpur. According to officials, 6,307 candidates applied, with an attendance of 91.7%.Admissions to the integrated law programmes are based on a composite score, with 50% weight each given to the entrance test and marks obtained in the qualifying Class XII examination.At the PU campus, there are 180 seats each for BA LLB (Hons) and B.Com LLB (Hons), excluding seats reserved for foreign nationals and NRIs. The Ludhiana regional centre offers 60 seats in BA LLB (Hons), while 60 open seats are available at the Hoshiarpur centre.Controller of examinations Jagat Bhushan said 20 centres were set up for the test, including eight on the PU campus and 12 in colleges across Chandigarh. Observers and flying squads were deployed to monitor the conduct of the examination.Jammers were used to prevent any mobile or WiFi-based malpractice and the examination was conducted smoothly. The question booklet and answer key have been uploaded on the university’s examination website.
