Hyderabad: Madhapur police have booked Lingamaneni Sanjush, son of Andhra Pradesh Rajya Sabha MP and Janasena leader Lingamaneni Ramesh, in connection with a road accident that claimed the life of a 26-year-old mall employee on Aug 16.Police registered a case under section 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), alleging rash and negligent driving. According to the FIR, Bharati Mukhi, a salesgirl at Lifestyle store in Inorbit Mall, was hit by a car (TG09 G 0666) while crossing the road opposite the mall around 3 pm. She sustained a severe head injury and died later.According to a complaint lodged by Lifestyle manager, Bharati and her colleague Pooja Ashok, both aged 26, had gone near a star hotel to collect food and were returning to the mall when the accident occurred.The FIR alleges Sanjush was driving an Aston Martin at high speed and that Bharati was shifted in the same car to Apollo Hospitals, where doctors examined her and declared her dead.Police issue noticeMadhapur ACP Ch Sridhar said no arrest had been made as the offence is bailable and carries a punishment of less than seven years. “We have issued notices to the accused. There is no negligence on the part of the police in the case,” Sridhar claimed. Police said Sanjush tested negative for consumption of alcohol and drugs.Sanjush, 21, is listed as a director in Black Ridge Energy Private Limited and Capital Energy Private Limited, companies operating in the energy and power sectors. He studied BS computer science at the University of Texas in Dallas, US. An email sent to Sanjush and Lingamaneni Ramesh seeking a response remained unanswered.The vehicle involved in the accident is registered in the name of Honer Prime Housing LLP. Police said further investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident is under way.Section 106(1) of the BNS pertains to causing death by a rash or negligent act not amounting to culpable homicide and provides for imprisonment of up to five years and a fine.Cyberabad police commissioner M Ramesh Reddy was unavailable for comment despite attempts to contact him.
