The racket was busted on Wednesday after the police arrested five people

Palanpur: Two absconding accused allegedly involved in a child trafficking racket were arrested from Mumbai by the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) and SOG of Sabarkantha police on Thursday. The accused were identified as Sitaram Parmar, a resident of Udaipur district in Rajasthan, and Kavita Patel, a resident of Dombivli East in Mumbai. A third accused was arrested from Danta in Banaskantha district.According to police, Parmar allegedly worked as a key middleman in the racket, earning commissions for arranging children and selling them in Mumbai. Kavita allegedly procured children through two other accused and, acting as a trafficking agent, facilitated their sale through an intermediary in Maharashtra. The arrests followed an investigation into a human trafficking case registered at Himmatnagar Rural police station. Police formed teams from the AHTU and SOG and used technical and human intelligence to trace the accused. The racket was busted on Wednesday after the police arrested five people, including the father and uncle of a one-month-old girl who was allegedly being taken to Mumbai for sale.
